8 years old. She was 2 when she came to Taizé with her parents. Her father is
Copt from Egypt, her mother is Iraqi from the Chaldean Church. She was born in Jordan
where her parents met and got married. Jouanna and her parents were part of the 500
Eastern Christian families that France welcomed in 2009. After a difficult and insecure time
spent in Paris they arrived at Taizé.

tower of Babel. Jojo is always kind and she never complains. In the village’s school she
welcomed the Iraqi and Syrian refugee children who came after her with a lot of joy and she was
their translator in the beginnings.
