Day 2, 28 November, 2016
8 years old. She fled her hometown with her foster family when the combat troops were getting closer to the region of Donetsk in the summer of 2014. Her parents died a few years before violence erupted in Donbass. In June 2015 she spent one month’s vacation in Taizé together with other ukrainian children. Her favorite song in the church was “Jesu Christe, Fili Dei”, she was humming it all the time. Vika is also a talented gymnast: she does the splits and other impressive acrobatics with surprising ease.
On the board behind her, she wrote this sentence she heard somewhere: “All that you give to others, remains forever. All that you keep for yourself, is lost forever.”
